The Maha Samprokshanam of Sridevi Bhumidevi sameda Sri. Varadaraja Perumal and Sridevi Bhumidevi sameda Sri Parimala Ranganathaswamy temples were performed on Sunday, June 21, at Sengalipuram village. Hundreds of devotees from the village and nearby towns and the diaspora from faraway lands had congregated at the temple precincts to take part in the event. Hon. Thiru. R. Kamaraj, Minister for Food & Civil Supplies, Tamil Nadu was present.
The festivities started on Wednesday, June 21 with Sri Lakshmi Sudarsana and Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha Homams and Yagasalai Vastu Shanti Homam. The pujas and rituals were performed as per the Vaikhanasa Agama. From Thursday, June 22 till the morning of Sunday, June 25, six kaalams of Maha Purnahuti were performed.
The Yagasala rituals were performed by a team of bhattacharyars led by ‘Pravachana Ratna’ Sri. U.Ve. Kalyanarama Bhattacharyar and the ‘Sarvasadagam’ was by ‘Vaikhanasa Agama Ratna Shanta Swarupi’ Sri. U.Ve. Rajagopala Bhattacharyar.
The Maha Samprokshanam was followed by a grand Tirukkalyana Utsavam of Sri Ranganathaswamy and a procession of the Sri. Ranganathaswamy and Sri. Rajagopalaswamy deities with their consorts around the village streets in the night.
The renovation of the temples and the tiruppani works were spearheaded by ‘Brahma Vidya Sabha’, the committee of villagers led by Sri. S.R. Subramaniam, Sri. V. Sethuraman, Sri. R. Soleswaran and several others. Separate Annadanams were performed for the bhattacharyars, vedic pundits, villagers and visitors at different places.
It was an occasion of religious fervor, bhakti and the spirit of togetherness for the several hundred devotees who were fortunate to be a part of this divine event, which has been held after a gap of 29 years.
