Gangavataranam is an utsavam celebrated for ten days during the Tamil month of Karthikai (November-December). The utsavam concludes on Kertika Amavasya, on which thousands of devotees assemble at the mutt to take a dip in the holy river Ganga, as she flows through the well in accordance with the promise given to Sri ayyaval.
The celebrations include 'annadaanam' on all ten days. During the utsavam, pujas, pravachanas, sampradaya bhajans, sangeeta upanyasams, namasankeertanams, Carnatic music recitals, etc are organised in the mutt. The utsavam ends with a procession of Sri Ayyaval.
This year the above ustavam has been celebrated between13th and 22nd November 2014.
