Brahmashri Swaminatha Ātreyar samsmaranotsavam 2025

With the blessings of Pujyashri kanchi Acharyas and as per ājnā of Shri krishnapremi swamigal, the vārshika Brahmashri Swaminatha Ātreyar samsmaranotsavam was conducted at Bharatiya Vidya bhavan Mylapore Chennai yesterday November 28, 2025. The programme began with a violin recital on Tyāgarāja kritis by Vidwan Shri Ramanujacharlu T K V gāru supported by Chi Adithya Manikarnike on the violin at 4 pm. Vidwan Palayamkottai Shri Gururaghavendran provided wonderful support on the Mrudangam. Tulasidalamulache, Telisi Ramachintanato, Manasuloni, Appa Rama bhakti, Tsanitodi teve, patti viduvaraadu and Namo namo raghavaya were the compositions that created a divine ambience at the venue. We thank the vidwans for their wonderful presentation for two hours.

The second session began at 6.30 pm with kanchi Shrimatha Svastivācanam. Smt. Raghavi Chandrasekhar sang Rama Rama nīvāramuga and Marugelara as invocation. Shri. Sundararaman welcomed the scholars Mahamahopadhyaya Brahmashri Dr.R. Manidravid Sāstrigal, Vidwan Ramanujacharyulu and audience. He presented the life and works of Shri Ātreyar.

Brahmashri Manidravid Sāstrigal spoke about the Jayendra nīti sūtrāni, a compilation of advices of Pujyashri Jayendra Saraswati Swamigal in sanskrit written by Shri Ātreyar. It was a great learning from Sāstrigal who presented the niti sutras in a much understandable manner with a lot of quotations. It was a session of wisdom.

Shri Ramanujacharyulu spoke about his association with Brahmashri Ātreyar. He mentioned his coordination of Rama Ashtapadi recording at AIR Trichy along with Shri Ātreyar. To everyone 's surprise, he also played the recorded audio of introduction to Rama Ashtapadis by Shri Ātreyar. He also recalled an occasion when he listened to Shri Ātreyar mama's Anasuya Upacharam upanyasam at Trichy. It was a great learning moment for all about Shri Ātreyar mama's various musical aspects.

Shri Sundararaman presented a section from English translation of Rama Ashtapadis. He also spoke about Sanskrit translation of bharati's kannan pattu (Kannan En Nanban). Sundararaman also shared some anecdotes on Shri Atreya's view of compositions of Tyāgarāja Swamigal and article about the bhaktas lived in 19th century penned by him.

Shri Gopal from Thanjavur Parampara team proposed vote of thanks. It was a great day to recall and acknowledge the greatness of a Rama bhakta and scholar who has done so much in his life.
