This temple is popularly known as Sri Soraikavur Aiyyanar. The Moolavar is Sri Pushkala Sametha Dharmashasta who is presented in a sitting posture facing north similar to the Sri Aiyyappa in Shabarimala. The only difference is that here the Lord is with his consort Sri Pushkala who is in a standing posture. Outside the sanctum there is a separate shrine for Sri Ganesha facing south and statues of two big horses as in Aiyyanar Temples.
On the eastern prakaram outside the shrine there are idols of Madurai Veeran and Sankali Karuppan facing north as are idols of Sri Pidari, Sri Nagaraja and Sri Selliamman. Behind the temple a beautiful Nandavana is maintained. There is also a guest house for devotees to reside.
The temple can be approached from Paapanasam town from the Tanjore Kumbakonam road and is about 6km from Paapanasam. The nearest village is Thirukkaraikavur. Incidentally, this temple is the family diety "Kula Divam" of my mother as well as my second- in- law Sri. R. Rajaraman.
