Sri Irawatheswarar Temple Darasuram, Kumbakonam, Tanjore, Tamil Nadu, India

Darasuram is about 7 km from Kumbakonam. There are two temples situated in adjacent compounds: one for Lord Sri Shiva known as Sri Airawatheshwarar since he is worshipped by the white celestial elephant of Indra and the other is dedicated to goddess Sri Parvathi known as Sri Perlyanayaki Amman. Both the temples are built by Chola King Sri Rajendran son of the Great Raja Raja Chola. The temple is famous for its architecture and the sculptures and it is maintained by the Archaeological Department of India. The temple is a tourist attraction.
