The ancient Temple of Sri Visalakshi Sametha Sri Kasi Viswanathar Temple in Tiruvisalur

village is being renovated as the structure has become weak and unstable over a period of

time. The village where the widely known Sri Sridhara Ayyaval Mutt is located is on the

northern bank of River Cauvery and about 10 km away from Kumbakonam enroute to

Myladuthurai by road.

Tiruvisalur endowed by The Tanjore Maratha King Shahuji I, to scholars for promotion of

spiritualism and fine arts in 1695 was formerly known as Shahajiraja puram. Many eminent

scholars lived at this village prominent among them were Maruthanallur Sri Sadguru

Swamigal (birth place), Sri Sadasiva Brahmendral, Sri Sri Bhagavan Nama Bodendral( 59th

Aacharya of Kanchi Mutt) and Sri Sridhara Venkatesa Ayyaval.

With the blessings of Sri Kanchi Acharyas and devout wishes of villagers, it is proposed to

complete the renovation work and perform the Maha Kumbhabhishekam on February 8,

2015.

May the bountiful blessings of Sri Devi Visalakshi and Sri Kasi Viswanathar be Showered on

one and all.
