The lush green surroundings that delight the eyes, the Vedic chants that please the ears, and the resonant sound of temple bells together form the distinctive charm of this village. Traditional houses that retain the fragrance of antiquity—with their ThiNNais , MuRRams, pillared halls—along with village folk who welcome visitors with warm smiles, are among its many unique features. This small village, Thippirajapuram, lies nine kilometers from the town of Kumbakonam, on the southern bank of the Thirumalarajan River.

As one of the eighteen Vathima villages, it celebrates the Kanu festival- sisters praying for the longevity and prosperity of their brothers, as a vibrant event. The women of the Agraharam assemble at the river ghat, celebrating in the presence of Devi Abirami.

During the festival, Mother Abirami places the Kanu offerings together with the women of the Agraharam. The sight of Agraharam sthris performing the Kanu ritual on the riverbank, in the presence of Goddess Abirami is a scene of captivating beauty that enchants all who behold it.
